This guest post is brought to you by Beth H, a VisionTrust sponsor and team member from Maryland.
I recently returned from my third visit to one of VisionTrust’s orphanages in the Dominican Republic. I have two sponsor children at the house and have really enjoyed getting to know them and all the other kids in the house! It’s such a blessing to be able to connect on a personal level, instead of just mailing a check to some unknown person on the other side of the world.
It’s humbling, heartbreaking and beautiful, all at the same time, to see in person just how much sponsor family letters and photos mean to these children! One of our team members commented that it looked like our church’s pictorial directory on their walls because all the photos that sponsor families send get hung up next to their beds.
I could fill multiple pages with amazing experiences from my three visits, but the highlight for me has got to be from this past trip. One of the girls I sponsor asked to pray with me and she accepted Christ! (And another little girl prayed with other team members the next day!)
You don’t often get to see the fruits of your labor. We are so blessed to have this continuing relationship with VisionTrust and this orphanage that allows us to witness the positive changes happening there, and see how God is using us to further His kingdom! I encourage ANY sponsor family to go visit your child in person. It is truly a life changing experience and it means more to them than you can possibly imagine!
