While on a mission trip to Myanmar to teach kids about Jesus, Violet found herself falling in love with them. It was there the Lord impressed upon her heart to be a voice for the children. But, besides sponsoring a child she wondered what she could do since she was already retired and getting older every day.
A few months after her trip, Violet (who lives in Singapore) had an opportunity to return to her homeland, India, for a visit. While there, she held a Bible Study and shared with a group of children about the kids in Myanmar. She showed them where Myanmar is, told them they could pray for the kids and even support them financially because every little bit counts.
The next day at Bible Study a little girl came up and put a pouch in Violet’s lap. When asked what it was, the little girl replied that the pouch contained her savings and she wanted to sponsor a child in Myanmar.
Violet and this little girl have inspired and reminded us that you don’t need to have an endless supply of resources to help children in need, you just have to be open to using what God has given you.
Violet returned to Singapore and picked a child for sponsorship on behalf of the girl and her family. She continues to be a voice for the children and has seen even more children get sponsored.
