If you do, then maybe you should be going on a construction mission trip this summer!
I am so excited to be leading my very first mission trip to Peru this summer! I am going with some fantastic people from my home church here in Muskego, WI to serve at the Luz y Vida Learning Center.
The afternoons will be spent building relationships with the children and local pastor, Pastor Romulo…this is my favorite! We will sing worship songs in Spanish, teach them about prayer and about the immense love that God has for them. I can’t wait to hold those little hands, and give hugs to those amazing local heroes (aka volunteers from the local church) who are cooking food for and sharing the love of Jesus with the children every day.
But the mornings…oh the mornings we are going to spend constructing a roof over the area where the children eat their lunch. I just got off the phone with our Special Projects guy, Scott, and my list of supplies sounds like a foreign language: sawbuck clamps, boric acid, and nail plates for wooden trusses. Hmmmm…Thankfully I have a team of people in Peru and here in the US to help put the plans together for the roof, but I would appreciate your prayers as planning over the ocean can be difficult. And, if you know what a sawbuck clamp is, think about joining a construction team with VisionTrust!
(PS: a sawbuck clamp is used for constructing scaffolding- which is what you stand on when building a roof!)
