This post about what the Lord has been doing in Liberia is brought to us by Karen R., the Director of Family Ministry at Southside Fellowship.
Teamwork is paying off as VisionTrust, Christian Revival Church Association (CRCA), and Southside Fellowship work together to provide Liberian Christian school teachers with an opportunity to participate in government accredited training. For the past two years, these three organizations have been pursuing the dream of offering the initial Liberian required teacher training to VisionTrust and CRCA teachers.
For several years now, the Liberian Ministry of Education (MOE) has offered a formal program of teacher education to public school teachers. This initial training is core to schools employing qualified teachers who are recognized by the MOE. With limited access to the training, Christian schools have had trouble employing government qualified teachers. Two years ago, teachers from Southside Fellowship in Greenville, South Carolina began pursuing the Ministry of Education’s approval to offer the national curriculum to Christian teachers.
Throughout the two year journey, God has opened doors that had been closed to outside non-profit groups, provided curriculum from an international NGO, and blessed the effort with favor from the Ministry of Education. This past month, CRCA was advised that the Ministry of Education has agreed to allow Southside Fellowship teachers to offer the required training to Christian school teachers with accreditation. This coming July, teachers from VisionTrust, Christian Revival Church Association and Hidden Eye College will gather to attend the first three weeks of an eight week training program. Eight teachers from Southside Fellowship will conduct the training. This effort is truly a picture of cross-cultural team work and the power of an awesome God.
