Happy New Year to all! I just spoke with Edmond , our Country Director in Central African Republic and he also wanted to wish a Happy New Year to all of you who have been praying for or are interested in the CAR!
He said the day-to-day operations of the program are continuing as normal in Bangui, even with the continuing threat of advancement of the rebel troops on the capital city. Edmond also relayed that the city as a whole is fairly calm and people are continuing with their normal activities. This is proven by the fact that Edmond was able to get to the main post office in Bangui and receive a key to VisionTrust’s new post office box there! So, in spite of the news reports of high anxiety among the city’s population, Edmond assured me that people are going about their normal activities. Thanks for praying!
Edmond said all of our orphans are doing well, and that none of them have been affected by the unrest up to this point! Praise God for that and keep praying that there will be no disruption of the care of these precious children, either in Bangui, or in Berberati in the western part of the country.
On the political front, the Seleka rebel group has agreed in principle to meet with the government for peace talks, but no date has been set yet.
Please keep praying!
