You’ve probably heard of the deadly ebola virus outbreak in Western Africa. VisionTrust serves hundreds of children in the infected area. The children and local heroes from our programs in Sierra Leone and Liberia are all at risk of this deadly disease. As of August 1st there are no known cases of infection in any of the children, but the disease continues to spread.
In Sierra Leone, our local heroes are having children take extra precautions with extra hand washing and encouraging families to use filtered water to do extra cleaning. They are praying their group does not come in contact with the virus.
In Liberia, we have hundreds of children that are right in the middle of an infected area. Our local heroes live on a mission compound that many ministries share (Samaritan’s Pursue, SIM and others). It is the home-base for evangelical ministry in Liberia. This week we’ve been getting reports that an increasing number of people are confirmed to have the virus on that compound. Our National Director confirmed one of his extended family members has the virus–their family is in need of prayer. Pray for our staff and all the other missionaries living at the compound.
