Simply put, #GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to giving on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Following on the tails of doorbuster days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is a time for the world to exercise its generosity muscle and join together for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving.
Since it began in 2012, #GivingTuesday has resulted in greater donations, volunteer hours, and activities that bring about change in communities. Last year alone, more than 30,000 organizations across 68 countries came together to celebrate #GivingTuesday, and over 53 million dollars were donated!
At VisionTrust, we love that a day centered around giving is becoming so widespread. But more than just another popular day, we see it as a movement that encourages people to be involved in something bigger than themselves by helping others in unique and impactful ways.
On December 1, we’re encouraging people to share the love by sharing a meal. For $30, you can help feed a child for six months. (Wondering how much of a difference some food can really make? Read this.) You can also join our event page and help spread the word to your networks so they can join the #GivingTuesday movement, too!
So in the end, you don’t have to be a world leader or a billionaire to give back. #GivingTuesday is about ordinary people coming together to do extraordinary things. You can be one of them…will you?
