Garnett, our director in Sierra Leone, called Saturday with so much joy and excitement.
They had just finished a “camp” with 130 children. Sixty of the children live at our transitional home and the others came from the surrounding community for a five day retreat. (They all slept in the chapel attached to the home.)
They played games, ate good food, sang praises, danced and received Bible teachings daily. Many of the street orphans and community children are seen eating dirt just to fill their aching stomachs, so eating real food 3 times a day was such a rare treat!
One of the kids brought his friend from a strong Muslim family who had a lot of good questions about what he was hearing. On Saturday he decided to receive Jesus as his Savior, praise God!
On Easter Sunday they celebrated with a church service, chicken and biscuits and a “sweet” to finish off their memorable week. They plan to teach the children about baptism over the next couple of months and then take those who are ready to the beach to be baptized.
