Last month, two of us from the Communications team went to India to capture the stories of about 10 children and leaders in our programs. We can’t wait to soon share their stories — their amazing journeys — with all of you back at home.
As we began talking with these kids and learning about their lives, a common theme quickly emerged: almost every single one of them endured physical beatings from family members for their faith.
Because they wanted to read the Bible. Because they wanted to go to school. Because they prayed to Jesus.
A second theme emerged just as quickly: each of these students were extreme prayer warriors.
In the midst of the abuse and the ridicule, they didn’t give up on Jesus. They kept praying because they knew He was bigger than their current situation and they believed He would deliver them. And He did.
I just kept wondering what in the world I’ve been doing. How have I been missing out on seeing God’s faithfulness and power in my own life simply because I don’t keep my heart and mind focused on Him?
My incredible roommate sent me with a package of letters to read during each day of my trip. In many of those, the friend who wrote it prayed that I would see how big God was on this trip. Through the stories of these kids, I not only gained a fresh perspective of how big God is, but I was challenged to experience God more in my own life. And I hope that as we get the opportunity to share these stories over the next few months, others will too.
