This blog post is from Lucy Lim, Director of VisionTrust Asia.
One of the staff for VisionTrust Myanmar, has put his training in Japan to good use at our Transitional Homes in Myanmar. He helped them build solar clothes dryers – a very simple structure made with bamboo and clear plastic. It is an effective way of drying clothes, rain or shine. It could also be used for drying fruit, fish, etc. It was raining when we visited the homes and we were glad the clothes were kept dry!
In another project, our staff has started to help them build a duck and vegetable farm. Someone has donated land some distance away from the home for that purpose. The children have been enjoying eggs from the ducks and fresh vegetables. They were also given responsibilities during school holidays to care for the farm. There are some ducks in the home and these lay eggs for food. A few children were taught how to take care of these ducks and get their eggs.
We’re excited for these new, sustainable innovations and can’t wait to see how they continue to bless the homes.
