After a 3-day journey across the country, I arrived safely in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As we drove closer to the city, I couldn’t help but think of the magnificence of God as I looked at the mountains. And as I’ve settled into my new job as the Director of Donor Development, I’m reminded every day of who we’re serving as I look at picture after picture on the walls of kids that we’re helping.
To make it more real, just recently, I talked with our Director of Zimbabwe, who was visiting. I asked him what he liked about his job and he replied with a big smile that he loves taking care of the kids, teaching them about Jesus, and teaching the older ones how to mentor the younger ones. My heart broke when he said that his biggest challenge was that he couldn’t feed all 3,000 kids entrusted to his care. I walked away feeling inspired to do my job to the best of my ability, so that more kids will be fed and can grow up to be Christian leaders in their own communities.
