In honor of International Literacy Day, we want to celebrate the amazing achievement of 33 high school graduates in the Dominican Republic!
The students attended four different VisionTrust programs: Herrera, Cotui, Brisas del Este, and Ketty’s House. Not only did they complete their high school education, but every single one defied national odds and passed their national exams on the first try. Considering the average high school graduation rate in the DR is only 35%, that’s worth doing a little dance about!
The students celebrated their accomplishment with friends, family, and VisionTrust staff (132 people in all) at a beautiful outdoor ceremony. “To be able to celebrate in such a way was a wonderful manifestation of the Lord’s grace and love for us,” said Nelson Paulino, the Director of VisionTrust Dominicana.
After hearing the amazing testimonies from both students and Local Heroes, Nelson went on to say how he and all the staff were encouraged “to know that these students know the Lord, [and] are committed to live for God and love others.“
Join us in praising God for these young people’s great achievement, for allowing VisionTrust to journey alongside them, and for the hard work and dedication of our Local Heroes.
Ce-le-brate good times, c’mon!
