Liberia is officially Ebola free! As we celebrate, we have to take time to recognize that this was a miracle.
Most news agencies and world authorities acknowledge that, just a few months ago in the fall of 2014, the world was bracing for thousands of cases of Ebola. In Liberia alone there were almost 450 new cases in a week. Each of those 450 people could have easily infected many others, so the world was bracing for an onslaught.
The Liberian people made an incredible impact by bravely sharing critical health messages with their communities and encouraging trust in Westerners who were trying to help save them from Ebola. World authorities credit this as the main reason why casualties were not nearly as high as they could’ve been. Our Liberian team, led by our National Director Robert Sondah, were among the faithful who went door to door sharing information, food, disinfectant supplies, and—most importantly—the love of Jesus in the midst of this terrible outbreak.
Through God’s protection, the power of prayer, and His faithful foot soldiers, we rejoice that Liberia has won the battle against Ebola and that many came to know Jesus as their savior.
