Tucked into the backseat of a bus, bumping along backstreets of Qingdao, China, it hit me, a desire that would impact my perspective forever:
I want my life to be big.
Big in every sense of the word—brimming with new experiences, saturated with deep heart-felt connections, and above all, spilling with impact. I longed for this life to mean something—to reach far outside the confines of self. Immediately, I knew God was, is, and forever would be the catalyst in this equation. Because me + personal attempts to live with impact = small, narrow-minded life (Trust me, I’m experienced in the area). He needed to be at the center of it all. For surely, He has the biggest worldview, perspective, and ability for impact, right? Surely, He has the grandest plan of all.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a heart for those in need around the world. This long-standing passion has continued to grow—year by year, experience to experience. On countless occasions, I’ve been tempted to manipulate my circumstances to bring this passion into fruition—to revert back to the equation that so naturally spills from my core—the one that leads to small.
Though yet again, God has been proven faithful. He unexpectedly (as He so often works), blessed me with the opportunity to work with VisionTrust. I am thrilled to be joining the team and their mission to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the poorest children around the world.
Through this blog, I hope to share with you my journey—the experiences, the revelations, and the process of God leading me in His bigger plan. Thank you for coming along for the ride!
