Meet Elom, Odette, and Essenam, three of the 120 children attending kindergarten through 5th grade at our school in Vogan, Togo.
Last month these three were orphaned when their mother died and father went to prison. As is common in Togo, their father is an idol worshipper who has multiple wives and lives outside the village, traveling back and forth between families. When their mother got sick, he sold the same piece of land twice to pay for medical care. After she died last month, the crime caught up with him and he was put in prison.
Throughout this tragedy God provided the siblings with Djojina Amavi, a 2-3rd grade teacher at the school who took the children in. She’s a young, single woman living in a small apartment room, barely able to provide for herself. But, thanks to the children’s sponsors and Djojina’s strong faith, the kids are being well taken care of.
Unfortunately, stories like this are not unique in Togo. While these three have sponsors who help care for them, there are still 50 children in our program without. Please pray every child would be sponsored, consider sponsoring a child or help find someone who can. We are also praying God would find a permanent place for Odette, Elom and Essenam to live and heal their hearts after losing their parents.
