We hope you enjoy this update from our National Director, Nelson, in the Dominican Republic.
The team from UBC with Ketty’s house was a good refreshment in the middle of March. They did an awesome work and the girls were really blessed with them. Thanks for Ernie Taylor, VisionTrust’s founder, who also came to the Dominican Republic and spent a great time with all of our principals—we love to have you here.
Daniel Ne has been able to make some really good connection with the Health Ministry area that works with donations for NGOs in the Dominican—deworming pills, display for preventions, talks, etc. Recently we received the first donation of deworming pills for all the students. We can now get them for free every time we ask.
Neftali Zabala, a young man from Brisas who is a worship pastor at his church, is dedicating a few hours a week to help us with the Spiritual Developing Plan. He is visiting the centers and sharing good ideas with the staff. This month, five of our programs will do one of his ideas of creating a painting that describes Easter. We will make it as an internal contest and see who makes the best picture. Seems exciting.
The water plant in Cotui is being installed as I type this report. This coming Friday we will take a sample of the water already purified and test it. If everything is ok we will use it for a few weeks as we prepare all the components for a Community Coop that also involves the global health hygiene plan.
Even this report is made for VisionTrust, I do want to put in record my special thanks to my wife who for the last three or four weeks had to wait long hours to see me come home after the meetings with the people in Herrera. As the baby is demanding more attention, I can’t thank her enough for her support and understanding on these difficult times.
