The news out of Liberia can only be described as a miracle when you consider how most epidemics spread and the number of forecasted cases that did not happen. It makes me smile with complete confidence in the power of our Lord’s mighty hand as He heard the prayers from across the world for West Africa. New life is coming to Liberia.
The threat is not over; however, Liberia was down to four new cases this past week! Our team on the ground has now shifted their focus to re-opening schools for our children in February. The preparation requires careful attention to hygiene, monitoring for infections and increasing our feeding programs. As we celebrate God’s power in Liberia, we also see that He has provided a rich environment for our Liberian team to share God’s Word and bring more people to him.
We need to continue to pray for the complete eradication of Ebola in West Africa and for the wisdom and stamina of our team as they take on the challenge of safely bringing our children back to school. Finally pray that hearts would continue to be open to the Gospel and the hope it brings.
The need remains great, we will have months of supplementing our children’s nutrition as Liberia’s economy and food supply chain slowly recover. Please consider continuing to give to these efforts. It currently takes an additional $10,000 per month to support the food needs of our VisionTrust communities and this is not likely to improve for months to come. We have raised over $110,000 to date and have spent almost $80,000 to keep our communities going for these many months. We have months to go and ongoing food challenges to face. We need your continued support!
We praise God for the new life He is bringing to Liberia.
Below is an interview with our National Director of Liberia and Hannah, a woman from the community. Take a look to see how community lives continue to be affected by Ebola.
