Darlene Keen, the Executive Assistant to the President here at VisionTrust, recently had the opportunity to visit our programs in India. Below is a brief bit of her experience and some photos she took along the way.
I had the amazing opportunity to go to India in March, where I joined a VisionTrust missions team from Singapore! Our team of 7 Singaporeans, myself and our India National Director, Merwin Joshua, and his wife Shenola worked, ate, and prayed together. We were outwardly focused on our physical goal: painting two buildings—inside and out, while we were in constant prayer for the inward renewal that only Jesus our Savior can bring to the children and people in India. We spent our time at two VisionTrust projects located outside of Chennai: Karikatukuppam and Parianemmeli. The hot temperatures quickly induced a drippy sweat as we attempted to do our best to apply local methods and tools of the trade to the job at hand.
My multi-talented co-laborers from Singapore also taught the children a lively worship song with actions (“Leaning, Leaning, Leaning, on the Lord’s side … Whose side are YOU leaning on?!”) and taught the kids a fun relay game involving passing balls over, under, over, under. It was a great week of getting to know VisionTrust Asia staff, local program leaders, Singaporian partners, and Indian culture.
