During a recent school break, the VisionTrust Peru staff organized a spiritual discipleship camp for the adolescents who are part of the VisionTrust programs in Ayacucho. A children’s ministry from Lima called “The King’s Castle” presented the main sessions, which included dramas, games, sermons, and other fun activities. Approximately 90 boys and girls attended the camp, and it was a very special experience. Below are the testimonies of two young ladies who participated in the camp, as well as the testimony of a staff member who helped organize it.
Karen, age 11 – Maranatha Learning Center
“The camp was really good; each station had a message about Christ for the participants. One station that really stood out to me taught about unity and obedience—we learned that blessings will come to our lives when we obey God and His word. Also, I was impacted when they talked about opening our heart to Christ—I felt like the Lord was talking to me. Many of us kneeled, recognizing that God is the Lord of our lives.”
Jossy, age 14 – Primativa Learning Center
“I am one of the adolescents that participated in the camp and this is my testimony. I give thanks to God because I was really blessed, especially in my spiritual life. Since I participated in the camp, I’ve learned to be better. Before, I was a stubborn girl and I didn’t know that many of the things I was doing were bad, but now a seed has been planted in my heart and this seed is the Word of the Lord, the Word that was given to me at the camp I participated in. Thank you, Lord.”
Pastor Flor, Program Director – Gethsemane Learning Center
“This camp for adolescents has been a blessing for each one of the children; it was a time for learning and having fun through games and getting to know other children of their own age. It has awoken in our teenagers a motivation to know the Lord more and to have a great interest in changing and becoming better every day. The youth defined the camp with words such as: cool, fun, awesome, beautiful, very good, etc.”
Please pray that the Lord continues to work through this experience to draw the adolescents of Peru closer and closer to Him!
