Many times, after a victory, Satan attacks to try to discourage.
A couple of weeks ago, we saw a great victory in the VisionTrust program in the Central African Republic as 21 of the older orphans in our program graduated from their vocational training in carpentry and sewing. It was a great accomplishment and an example of incredible endurance for these young people. It was also a great encouragement to our staff on the ground to see the fruit of their labors.
On May 5, the attack came. Three armed robbers entered our office compound in the capital city of Bangui and assaulted some of our staff. They stole two computers with months of work on them, a digital camera, five cell phones, and a very large sum of cash for some upcoming training to take place in the next week.
Besides the loss of these goods, our staff is traumatized. Having a gun stuck in your face, and a grenade at the ready to have the pin pulled was a harrowing experience. But, we all rejoice that there were no significant injuries or worse that happened to our four staff that were at the office at the time.
One of the perpetrators has been caught by police and is undergoing questioning. With his capture, one of the computers was recovered!
Please be in prayer for the staff to find their strength in the same God that protected them in the robbery. He was definitely their shield and protector, but the scars remain. Pray that the rest of the goods may be recovered, so that the hard work will not be lost. Pray also for the perpetrators. They will stand before God some day to give an account. Pray that they will be repentant and stand before Him as their Redeemer, instead of facing Him as their Judge.
