Surahtee is a quiet second-grader who lives in Thailand. He enjoys drawing, playing soccer and listening to Bible stories with his friends. When not at the Learning Center in his community, he helps his mom and brother around the house by cleaning and carrying water while his father works as a volunteer policeman.
In the summer of 2013, Surahtee was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome. Essentially his kidneys had begun to fail, causing improper protein filtration in his blood and swelling in his face, hands and feet. His father did not earn enough money to pay for the care Surahetee needed. Oftentimes they would have to borrow money in order to cover the cost of medication and the 2-3 visits to the hospital each month along with corresponding travel expenses.
The VisionTrust staff learned about Surahtee’s illness and the financial burden it was causing for his family in March 2014. When Surahtee’s sponsor in the U.S. was notified, he felt the Lord leading him to provide the funds necessary for Surahtee’s care. So far, this sponsor has given $3,200 to cover 3 months of medical treatment and travel expenses for Surahtee and his family!
Thanks to his sponsor’s compassion, obedience, and generosity, Surahtee is able to continue with liver treatments and his condition is greatly improved! His medication has been scaled back and the swelling has decreased. Praise God for his provision for this little boy through a sponsor he’s never met on the other side of the world!
