“The rain never came when we needed it for the harvest and now there is nothing.” This was the recent report from Peter, our National Director in Tanzania.
The drought began earlier this year and the situation has only worsened, causing crop failure that is affecting the entire country. Food prices have doubled and fuel is going up, making the cost of living unbearable for the majority of families we serve.
We have been providing one meal a day to our students at our primary school for several years, and since conditions have been reasonable until now that has been enough. The children we serve knew they would go home after school and there would be food for them at night. Due to the drought, this is no longer the case. We are praying for an increased food budget to begin providing the children at the school and our recently added Learning Centers with two meals a day until the next harvest in May.
In order for this to happen, we need to raise $250 a week to provide needed nutrition for our three programs that collectively serve 415 children 5 days a week. For just $5 you can help provide a meal for 40 children.
We see this urgent need as yet another way we can display Christ’s love to the children. Will you join us?
